The white supremacy wing of the Republican Party stunned their colleagues today when Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) called Attorney General Jeff Sessions and demanded that Capitol police launch a deportation raid at tonight’s State of the Union address.
Gosar, a leading member of the House racism caucus, publicly demanded that the cops inspect the identification of all attendees and detain all undocumented persons among them, fully knowing that many Democrats have invited DREAMERs (undocumented people who arrived in the United States as children) to accompany them to the speech in protest of Donald Trump’s ethnonationalist agenda and his open xenophobia.
Today, Congressman Paul Gosar contacted the U.S. Capitol Police, as well as Attorney General Jeff Sessions, asking they consider checking identification of all attending the State of the Union address and arresting any illegal aliens in attendance.

The Senate has until February 4th to make a deal to protect the 800,000 DREAMERs before they face deportation by Trump and the jack-booted thugs who work for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
Last week, the Democrats ended a three-day government shutdown in exchange for Mitch McConnell’s promise to bring a clean DACA bill to a vote – but Republicans like Gosar stand in the way.
Gosar, who just returned from a trip to the Czech Republic where he met with a political party whose secretary called for the “gassing” of Jews and homosexuals, is one of the hardline Republicans whose concerns about immigration very clearly wander into white supremacy territory.
For him to call for deportations at the State of the Union address is a terrifying yet somehow sadly appropriate metaphor for the state of affairs in the United States today.
