Lat night host Conan O’Brien has followed the scandal surrounding the notorious memo crafted by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) like the rest of us, and upon its release early Friday, he had some things to say.
The mere existence of the memo, which references classified intelligence in an attempt to discredit ongoing investigations into the Trump administration, has rocked Washington, and Republicans have teased its release for weeks. Rep. Nunes, who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, has utilized an obscure committee rule that allows the president to release classified information submitted to him by the intel committee after a review period.
The memo has mostly been a dud, with most of its purported bombshell contents proven to be either over hyped or transparently partisan and of no objective use. Even Trump’s own Justice Department warned the White House not to release it.
That hasn’t stopped Republicans from pressing forward to release the memo anyway. Trump had up to five days to review the document before deciding whether or not to make it public, but he only needed one.
Rep. Devin Nunes has put his political career on the line to orchestrate both the drafting and the release of the memo in the hopes that it helps discredit the FBI, and by extension special counsel Robert Mueller. Both entities are investigating whether or not the Trump campaign colluded with the Kremlin to undermine the 2016 presidential election and tip the balance in favor of Donald Trump.
Conan O’Brien couldn’t wait for his late night show to weigh in. He took to Twitter soon after the memo’s release, and absolutely destroyed Devin Nunes with a scathing tweet:
In a fight between Devin Nunes and the FBI, who do I bet on? The group who took down John Gotti, or the guy who got his genitals caught in the zipper of his parachute pants? pic.twitter.com/ohEPySRDry

Well played, Conan. Well played.
