Fired FBI director Comey just leveled personal insults at Trump and Nunes in his most brutal takedown yet

- Februari 01, 2018

Former FBI director James Comey took to Twitter this afternoon to share his thoughts on the seemingly interminable saga of the Nunes memo and the looming possibility that yet another FBI director may soon be stepping down, just days after Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was forced out by the President and his cronies after he refused to swear loyalty to Donald Trump.

Comey’s tweet begins by referencing the FBI’s unprecedented letter denouncing the effort by House Oversight Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) to release his cherry-picked memo of classified information clumsily constructed in order to highlight alleged abuses of power by the FBI and somehow discredit Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation into the Trump team and their alleged collusion with Russian agents during the 2016 election.

He goes on to chastise the Republican Party for abandoning its duty to the American people and for abusing their positions in order to protect the President from the wheels of justice, and ends with an inspiring message of hope for the American people.

His pronouncement, however, is underscored by an implicit warning. While the name of Joe McCarthy may not adorn schools or streets, the spirit of McCarthyism is well and very much alive, as the liberal furor over the Russia investigation metastisizes into the denouncement of innocent ideological rivals as Russian agents left and right.

We cannot allow our passionate disgust for Donald Trump and all that he stands for to turn us into the enemy we’ve spent so many years trying to defeat.
