Alec Baldwin just struck back at the NRA’s Dana Loesch after her vicious attack on Hollywood

- Maret 05, 2018

Fresh from playing President Trump once again on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, actor and now talk show host Alec Baldwin took to Twitter to shoot down National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch.

A promo for Loesch’s new talk show on NRA TV addressed to “Dear Lying Media” announces that “Your time is running out. Dana Loesch’s new show come March 2018.”

“We’ve had enough of the lies, the sanctimony, the arrogance, the hatred, the prettiness, the fake news,” Loesch is quoted in the promo. “We are done with your agenda to undermine voters’ will and individual liberty in America.”

Baldwin, who had a hip replacement operation less than a month ago and launched his own new talk show on ABC after the Oscars last night, had a healthy response to Loesch and the lies frequently told by the NRA.

Baldwin may be making a reference to billboards which have a picture of Loesch holding an NRA membership card with a quote from her: “I will never carry a gun without carrying this.”

Baldwin is also responding to the plentiful evidence that it is Loesch who often lies. She was famously caught doing so recently after a post-Lakeland Town Hall on guns.

Baldwin also had the NRA in his gunsights on the most recent Saturday Night Live, along with other hot topics, when he returned again to play Trump.

Among his many shots at the group, his president Trump explained why he changed his mind so quickly last week, going from favoring many sensible gun control during a bipartisan meeting to being against new laws once again after he met with the NRA executives later in the week.

“The NRA gave me 30 million good reasons not to change a thing,” his Trump explained, “so cha-ching, it’s over.”

Later in the SNL show, Weekend Update anchor Michael Che also loaded up and fired off his comment on the president’s quick switcharoo.

“He was alone in a room with a bunch of gun enthusiasts and they somehow managed to change his mind?” joked Che. “You know, that once happened to me. I once spoke out against gang violence but then after a very private meeting with the Blooks on the roof of my building, I realized I disagreed with myself.”

Here is Baldwin as Trump, with SNL’s Anderson Cooper and the White House gang:

While Trump had little to say about Russian President Putin claiming to have super nuclear weapons beyond the capability of western defenses, he managed to find time to tweet his dislike of Baldwin again, referencing the actor’s comment to The Hollywood Reporter that for him playing the president is “like agony.”

Trump and Loesch may not like Baldwin’s impressions of the president, or the actor’s stance against the excesses of the NRA, but America has responded with higher ratings for the show and a higher profile for the performer.

The funny thing about comedy is that it has a way of exposing lies and liars in a way that is very memorable, and no amount of fresh lies, boasting, posturing or subterfuge can erase from the public consciousness.

So the more Trump lies and the Loesch plays to the basic instincts of the NRA base, the more the majority of Americans laugh and recognize and remember the truth.
