As the Mueller investigation closes in on President Trump and his cronies, the ease with which Washington insiders commit flagrant acts of corruption is being made painfully obvious as the enormous breadth of their investigation turns up more bones than we ever expected to find.
The death-cult fanatics of the National Rifle Association have found themselves in serious trouble as new evidence of their illicit election activities has put them squarely in the spotlight, with both the Mueller probe and the Senate intelligence committee demanding answers for whether or not the NRA used their accounts to funnel foreign campaign donations to the service of the Donald J. Trump for President campaign.
Today, NPR is reporting that the despised coven of blood profiteers was forced to admit to Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) that yes, they have been secretly accepting money from foreign entities and laundering it through their accounts, though they denied distributing it to pro-Trump Super-PACs.
“While we do receive some contributions from foreign individuals and entities, those contributions are made directly to the NRA for lawful purposes. Our review of our records has found no foreign donations in connection with a United States election, either directly or through a conduit,” wrote NRA’s General Counsel John C. Frazer to Wyden.
Of course, once the foreign money was mixed in with the rest of the NRA’s ill-gotten dark money, it’s hard to tell which dollars came from where, making it extremely easy for them to hand it out to anyone they pleased – like pro-Trump Super PACs. And hand it out they did; OpenSecrets.org reports that the NRA spent a staggering $100 million on the election of Donald Trump.
It is believed that some of that money came directly from Russia. How much and where exactly it came from is still unclear – which is why the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Robert Mueller’s team, and the Senate Intelligence Committee are digging deep into the NRA’s closet to find out the truth.
If the bloodstained extremists in the NRA committed election fraud during the last cycle, they’re facing some very serious consequences. Combined with their rapidly dropping approval rating in the wake of the anti-gun violence movement that has erupted since the massacre in Parkland, Florida, the grip of one of America’s most powerful lobbies on our nation might finally be starting to loosen.
