Blood merchant, mercenary, and notorious war criminal Erik Prince could soon find himself on the wrong end of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe. Prince, the founder of the private military contractor Blackwater — which has since been renamed to “Academi” in an attempt to rebrand after the organization massacred 17 civilians in Iraq — may have lied to Congress about a secret meeting he attended in the Seychelles with a close ally of Putin, new evidence suggests.
ABC News reports that while Prince testified before Congress that he “accidentally” ran into Russian CEO Kirill Dmitriev, Mueller has obtained concrete proof that challenges that narrative.
George Nader, a witness who has already been given immunity by the Special Counsel, claims that he set up the Seychelles meeting between Prince and Dmitriev. Documents show that Nader did indeed meet Prince in New York a week before the Seychelles trip, and shared information on Dmitriev with him. Nader said the meeting was intended to hammer out foreign policy objectives and establish a back channel between Russia and the incoming Trump administration.
Prince’s sworn testimony before Congress insists that he didn’t fly to the Seychelles for the meeting and that he just “happened” to run into him.
“At the end, one of the entourage says, ‘Hey, by the way, there’s this Russian guy that we’ve dealt with in the past. He’s here also to see someone from the Emirati delegation. And you should meet him. He’d be an interesting guy for you to know, since you’re doing a lot in the oil and gas and mineral space. So, as I recall, I met him, this same guy I talked about, Kirill Dmitriev. Met him down in the bar after dinner, and we talked for 30 minutes over a beer, and that was it,” Prince swore.
It’s only a matter of time before the full truth of the situation emerges. Prince is a man who has made a living off bloodshed, and if he goes down as part of the Mueller probe it will be an unexpected, but certainly welcome development. Prince’s lie itself hints at a much larger conspiracy – one that Mueller is working tirelessly to get to the bottom of.
