President Trump took yet another shot at the state of California this morning when he moved forward with his planned rollback of President Obama’s clean fuel emissions standards and revoked California’s special waiver to set their own laws when it comes to vehicle emissions regulations.
A shameless handout to the fossil fuel industry and a slap in the face to the nation’s biggest state, the president’s Thursday morning actions were met with a resolute condemnation from former Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who invoked Ronald Reagan as he tore into the President for his mindlessly destructive policy decisions.
“For 48 years – since one of my heroes, then-governor Ronald Reagan, requested it- California has had a waiver from the federal government to clean our own air. If the President thinks he can win this fight, he’s out of his mind.”

19 attorneys generals from blue states have already sworn that they will sue the government if the Trump administration goes through with this repeal, meaning that this battle is far from over.
Schwarzenegger has proven to be one of the few Republicans who has been willing to publicly go head-to-head with the president on behalf of his former constituents, and we welcome his input on an issue that is likely to get swept under the media rug as the decidedly unsexy but critically important issue of carbon emissions is overshadowed by the colossus of the Mueller investigation.
